NINA BROWN | BIOGRAPHY
A smile is worth a thousand words…this quote may seem cliché but is perfectly fitting for Nina Brown, a phenomenal talent in the entertainment industry with a magnetic smile and spirit that continues to propel her forward. Nina Brown currently serves as on-air talent at WXIA-TV, 11 Alive News, in Atlanta, GA. In a few short months, Brown has conducted interviews with numerous celebrities including Wiz Khalifa, Big Boi and Arrested Development, with the assistance of her longtime relationships within the music industry. However, it is her story of faith and sacrifice that has truly defined the young professional, what attracts many to her, and why she continues to break barriers.
In 2005, Nina Brown, a California native of Samoan and African American descent, and a charismatic student of broadcasting, began her career as an intern at WVEE V-103FM. In less than two years, Brown was promoted from intern to producer of The Frank & Wanda Morning Show, the highest rated urban music radio show in Atlanta, GA. Besides the demanding task of morning show producer, Brown also assisted the Program Director as a record label/artist liason with the responsibility of booking artists/celebrity talent for interviews, appearances at annual radio station events, weekly music meetings with record representatives and artists, managing station’s mixer playlist, scheduling and more.
Many peers in the industry began to take notice to Brown’s rapid career progression and in 2009 alone she was honored with a slew of accolades including, The Empowered Woman of 2009 by the Profound Women of America Organization, Power 30 Under 30 in Atlanta, CHOZEN Award recipient, and 944 Magazine Atlanta’s HOT List. In 2010, Brown was also featured on Essence.com for the “I’m A Blackberry Mom” story (Brown is the proud mom of a son named Jaylen). Nina Brown is often viewed as a celebrity in her own right, with a girl next door attitude, but she quickly denounces the “celebrity” title, stating, “I’m just a regular girl with a whole lot of faith.”
It’s faith that led the self-proclaimed “God’s girl” to reach out to her numerous supporters and fans to create the Bi-Annual Vision Board Brunch to empower others to reach for their dreams, co-creator of the Venus vs. Mars Relationship Panel, appointed as the Broadcasting Instructor & Ambassador for the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, and to be summoned regularly as a motivational speaker and panelist as an entertainment expert.
A leap of faith pushed Brown to leave a flourishing career in radio to pursue her dream of being on television as a personality. While in her role as producer at V-103, Brown was offered a position as an on-air talent for local Atlanta news station WXIA-TV, 11 Alive News. Her tenacity has continued to grow as her new peers in news have been impressed by her work ethic, loyal following (Nina Brown has nearly 30,000 twitter followers @NinaBrown), and a humility and faith that is respected and rewarded.
With a strong spiritual foundation, Brown hasn’t lost sight of her divine purpose; being a role model to the youth and women with uncompromising core values. Whether you view her as God’s girl, the girl next door, or both, it is certain she is a girl with a goal and the faith to make her dream happen much like any true visionary.
